For what it's worth (that is, very little), I'm with Joe. But I'll live either way. I'm just a guest.

I'm assuming they're not being applied to every forum and it appears from what Boon says that they're not.

How much discussion/progress is going on if not one person bothers to post to the thread in five months?

I'd love as much as anyone to keep everything, but the forum is not a bottomless pit. Resources have their limit.

I've been to lots of forums, and threads are resurrected all the time. Sometimes, a break from a discussion is just right. And of course new things can come to light, suddenly making the topic relevant again.

The resources argument is a good one, though. Which is why I'm not even really stating an opinion, just thinking aloud.

Are these lost forever? I started a thread for an X-Files idea that spawned some nice discussion. Since I'm actually planning on going through with it now that I've learned Avisynth (that's in place; now I just need some actual spare time), it would be nice if it could be restored. I have my initial post saved on my drive, but the discussion was pretty nice. No biggie, though.

You can check google's cache... sometimes you get lucky

the REVIEWS section is history.
It was created to promote reviews and motivate people to write more of them. Unfortunately it came with the bad side effect to have 2 topics to discuss the same thing. So today we moved all reviews to their according fanedit threads. All discussions and reviews will be in one place now. We hope you will like it. :)

Is this when the e-mail notifications stopped? I know Ghostcut is working on fixing that. I'm guessing the problem is bigger than people thought. :(

Sorry for putting this here, I know there is an error report thread but somehow I can't find it.

Anyway, the "view active topics" link is not working.

Did it just stop working? When was the last time you tried it? I just clicked on View Active Topics and get two listed.

I should have said "not working properly." I get the two topics also. But it is supposed to show all topics in order of most recent post.

It's possible that when I updated the forum software this morning a cache file or something was reset. Give it a day and if it's still not working let me know.

Turns out there was a new setting that either enables or disables this in the latest version. It defaults to disabled. Everything has been turned back on so let me know if you experience any other problems.

Hmm... I'll continue to look into it. Not sure why since enabling it should have kicked everything back on. Perhaps because they're isn't a lot of activity at the moment? I always use View New Posts (which is working), so I'm not sure how View Active Topics is suppose to behave. I'll keep an eye on it and keep researching.

View Active Topics shows all posts regardless of how current they are, which is why I use it (I often skip certain threads until I have more time to view them). View New Posts is indeed working, but after some time period (don't know how long) posts disappear off that list.

Thanks for checking into it.

Basically, we see the same results as we would if we weren't logged in ie. non memebers.

So even if I select to view a whole year's worth of active topics, the only ones that show up are in the Website News subforum.

Shiny and for some weird reason smells slightly of oranges.
