rapidshare launched a new web design and in conjunction with this have increased the download limit to 50 gigs within 5 days for premium users==WOOOO

"To enable you to check out the site in-depth, we have doubled the download volume for premium users: Instead of 25 gigabytes you can now download 50 gigabytes within 5 days"

well at least something good is coming out of this. I don't like the new design at all, but the 50GB is nice.

in way it sucks, because I would rather dl like 8 edits in two nights rather than 2 edits a day, but whatever

Needless to say, download links cannot be provided here. Yet when it comes to Rapidshare, how is anyone going to be able to get the download addresses? Will the fanedit users be able to PM the edit creators?

I couldn't find the rapidshare problems topic anymore. I have some problems with rapidshare.com. After downloading like 400 mb, then it shuts down. Can't download anymore, can't reaach the site anymore, while I still have 8gb of free transfer for that day. This has happened to me for the last 4 days. Anybody any idea what's going on?

I'm still having the problems. I contacted Rapidshare support center, but it's not very helpfull at the moment.

When I can't download or reach rapidshare, I'm still able to ping it. However it depends how I ping it:

Rapidshare is all not illegal, so you can ask him directly, if the connection is somehow blocked.

I know it's not illegal, but I don't know how to write it down in an email, since I'm not an expert on network stuff.

I hate this. I posted a lengthy reply and the site once again gives me this error

"this site has reached maximum connection please try again in a few minutes"

so in short it completely erased my reply

I had a similar issue with an online file host used for pics that one day AOL no longer gave access to. I verified that the links were still working by having friends check the links using their isp providers (verizon, etc) and they saw all of the files fine. It also helped because checking the links through firefox gave the message of "this site has been blocked'

AOL was dumbfounded and had no clue that they were blocking anything (and still don't). I switched online host and then I switched isp's. The problem went away

Now recently I was reading that the RIAA is no longer going to sue file sharers but send notices to the isp who in turn were going to severly limit the bandwidth one can use during the month. Not sure how things are by you, but if you dl a few gigs every other day this may be what is happening: Bandwidth limits imposed by your isp

Either way take the simple route first and use the message Boon wrote up and see what kind of response you get

I can reach it via the anonymous surfing site, but not with just the normal way. I will mail my question to my provider. The only question I have in mind, is why this happens only on several occasions. I mean, I would have expected that the site would be blocked 24 hours a day, but it's only after downloading a couple of 100 mbs.

there you have your solution probably: your ISP does not seem to like people downloading much. Could be they are spying on each and everyone's used traffic and start blocking from there.

i was with AOL...they do not like you downloading much,they have a "fair use policy" i recommend you change ya ISP.

If that has been the case, I would have at least expected a warning from them. Never got anything from my ISP. I have contacted them, still no reply (but hey, it's weekend).

i didnt get a warning...all i got was "we will disconnet you in 30 days for breaking our fair use policy"

Well the thing is you could be legally downloading an obscene amount of whatever just using lots of bandwidth (or lets say your job was working in video and you had to transfer an obscene amount from your house/workstation to your job on a regular basis). Just because you download a lot does not mean everything you are dl'ing is illegal, so lets all get that perception out of the way.

I would just call your isp and ask them on the phone if they started imposing bandwidth limits. If they say no, then tell them what has been happening. If they say yes then you have an answer

was it a legit email from AOL? I have been with them for years and never had a problem with bandwidth being used. Then again I am not sure what you were dling that they had an issue with

it was a letter....if you go over 80 gb per month AOL will cut you off.

Are you in the US? At one point over a year ago I did go over that with no problems at all (and what I was dling was legal)

found two things of interest for you. Ironically Aol's fair use policy was only on a UK site and nothing showed for the US though it may still apply to us regardless

A co-worker had to call the same company yesterday, and he couldn't even get through. Got an automatic message, roughly translated into: "we're too busy, please call back some time later."
